A Former British Rail worker was awarded over £23,000 damages in an out of court settlement for an asbestos related illness.

The gentleman, aged 71, from Crewe contracted asbestosis when he worked in the rail depot. He started with British Rail in 1955 as an apprentice and worked for them for over 34 years, working his way up to Works Department Inspector.

Mr B is awarded  £12,500 on behalf of his late father who tragically died suffering from an asbestos related condition.  His Father was exposed to asbestos dust whilst working as an Electrician for contractor firm Holliday Hall and Stinson during the construction of Ratcliffe on Soar Power Station in 1968.

The family of Kenneth Wildman have won a £48,500 payout after Mr Wildman died of mesothelioma, a lung cancer caused by exposure to asbestos dust. Mr Wildman worked as an Engineer/ Foreman 1960-1988 at Royal George Mill and came into contact with asbestos whilst carrying out his duties.
