Workers’ Memorial Day – 28th April 2011

Trade unions will unite together in holding events in Liverpool and all over the country to mark Workers’ Memorial Day on Thursday 28th April 2011.

GMB will hold a Regional Office Event at Columbus Quay at 9.30am.  Opening remarks made by Alfie Jones will be followed by a day of safety workshops, speakers and debates.

The Unite Commemoration and Remembrance service will take place at 12 noon on the South Piazza of Georges Dock Building, Pier Head.  Speakers at the service will include representatives from local trade unions, the business community and asbestos awareness.

Workers’ Memorial Day is marked all over the world in recognition of the men and women who have lost their lives or have been injured at work.  The message of this year’s day is to Remember the Dead and Fight for the Living.

If you are unable to attend one of the services or events, you can join with your fellow colleagues and people all over the country by marking a minute’s silence at 12 noon.
