It was reported in Hazards Magazine that property developer Micheal Murton, aged 35, received 200 hours community service and a 12 month suspended prison sentence after ordering the unsafe removal of asbestos from a former nightclub in Wrexham.

He was also ordered to pay £10,000 over two years after the developer and his contractor created huge amounts of dust including asbestos.  The clean up is expected to cost in the region of £200,000 and the removal of the remaining asbestos is likely to be in the region of £70,000.

It is important that when people are removing asbestos from buildings they use only registered contractors to avoid themselves potentially being prosecuted.
