Ms S has been awarded payout of £120,060 on behalf of the estate of Mr M from the T&N Asbestos Trustee Company after he was diagnosed with mesothelioma in January 2012.

Mr. M worked for Turners Asbestos Cement Ltd (later TAC Construction Limited) on Trafford Park, Manchester from 1968 to 1971. During his employment Mr. M worked in the mixer room where he was pouring bags of raw asbestos into a mix to produce insulated boards, mainly for the shipping industry. Plumes of dust would come up into the air and Mr. M would breathe it in.

For the last few months of his employment with the company Mr. M was working on the end of a machine bagging raw asbestos fibres, Mr. M would bag the raw asbestos, shaking each bag to get as much in as possible and then tie up the bags. The fibres would billow up into Mr. M’s face and he would be breathing in the dust. Mr. M describes being covered in dust; it would be in his hair, nose, ears and mouth. Mr. M also recalls the fibres being embedded into the skin of his hands from handling the raw asbestos.

Mr. M became ill in early 2011; being a proud man he did not seek medical advice straight away. Following a CT scan and biopsy in January 2012 Mr. M was diagnosed with advanced malignant mesothelioma.

We solicitors llp attended Mr. M’s home on 1st February 2012 and by 30th March 2012 a settlement of £120,060 was agreed with the T & N Asbestos Trustee Company Limited, just 58 days after the initial visit to the client. It was important to Mr. M to get the case settled as quickly as possible, we solicitors llp were able to obtain compensation for Mr. M putting his mind at ease. Sadly Mr M passed away shortly after settlement was confirmed and we solicitors were able to secure a further £10,000 for Mr M’s estate.

At the beginning of 2011 Mr. M was a fit and active 64-year-old man who enjoyed spending time with his family, running cycling and swimming. He also enjoyed charity work. In early 2012 Mr M was in constant pain and was so weak he could not mobilise around the house. This was due to mesothelioma caused by exposure to asbestos with Tuners Asbestos Cement Company (TAC Construction), which at the time of working with asbestos, Mr. M did not know, and was never warned, that there was any risk to his health.
