Mr D was exposed to asbestos whilst working as an electrician in Power Stations for a period of over 35 years.
Mr D worked for Central Electricity Generating Board, which is now part of EDF Energy. During his period of employment he was employed in a variety of roles including as a plant attendant, a plant operator and an electrician. He was exposed to asbestos for long periods of the day.
Mr D also worked for a company called Albright and Wilson. During his period of employment with this company he was employed as an Electrician and again he was exposed to asbestos for long periods of the day.
During Mr D’s employment with both companies he above, he was never provided with any form or protective equipment to reduce the amount of exposure he had to asbestos. He was also never made aware of the dangers that working with asbestos.
Mr D now suffers from asbestos related illnesses Pleural Thickening and Asbestosis which was confirmed when WE Solicitors arranged a medical assessment of his condition. This was presented to the defendants, as part of the evidence, to support Mr D’s claim.
WE Solicitors were able to negotiate an out of court settlement of £35,000 for Mr D. Both Mr D and WE Solicitors are very pleased with the outcome.
