Mr S was exposed to excessive levels of asbestos whilst he was working at a number of companies, Haden Young, Haden Carrier Limited, Crown House Engineering Limited and Bestobell Service Co Limited.
We worked as a Heating and Ventilation Fitter/Welder for each of the above companies for a period of around 20 years.
During the course of his employment with the above named companies Mr S had remove old boilers and pipes that were lagged with asbestos. He had to use his bare hands to pull asbestos lagging off the pipes which was then thrown onto the ground only to be trampled on by him and his colleagues causing more fibres to be released into his confined breathing space.
At no point during his employment was Mr S ever provided with any form of breathing equipment to protect him from breathing in asbestos dust nor was he ever warned of the dangers of asbestos.
WE Solicitors commissioned a medical report which confirmed Mr was suffering from a respiratory disability caused by Diffuse Pleural Thickening as a result of his asbestos exposure.
WE Solicitors were able to negotiate an out of court settlement of £27,500 for Mr S, avoiding the need for court proceedings.
