A former shipyard worker has secured more than £143,000 in compensation after being exposed to asbestos almost 50 years ago.
The 66-year-old former joiner, who worked at City Dock in Bristol, developed mesothelioma after inhaling asbestos dust and fibres whilst working at Charles Hill & Sons Limited as an apprentice.
Mr. A sought specialist advice from we solicitors in November 2007. We helped him secure the compensation in under 6 months.
Specialist solicitor Steven Evans from we solicitors said he was delighted with the outcome. Unfortunately as both the company and their insurers have gone out of business Mr. A is only able to recover 90% of his award from the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.
He said: “It’s extremely important that sufferers of this terrible disease get their compensation in their lifetime, and it was great that we were able to make this happen for this man.”
